For the last decades, the city of Tripoli, northern Lebanon, is subject to negative media propaganda on a national and a regional level. Unfortunately, the climate of poverty and insecurity is reflecting the bad image that is carried out by the majority of media seeking for “scoopes” and labeling in somehow the city, as if it belongs to another planet... This sad image is accompanied by a governmental centralized policy, exceptionally rigid since the beginning of the post civil war years. But Tripoli resists... The city is struggling to stay 100% Lebanese, and at least, is trying to reconnect on the cultural scene of the country.
The Tripoli Film Festival – Lebanon is a cinematic event conceived as an initiative to ameliorate the image of the city with three main objectives:
- Enriching our local cultural environment in Tripoli
- Promoting the rich cultural heritage of Tripoli and its local artists.
- Branding and marketing Tripoli and its region as a highly promising tourist destination.
Our team and jury, which are composed of dedicated professionals (local, national and international), will assemble and choose a selection of original projections and premières to be screened over the festival period. In parallel, many cultural events will be organized to add a special flavor to the festival, embracing its spirit.

- Enrichir l’environnement culturel local à Tripoli
